SCLL Volunteer,

 

Thank you for taking the time to coach.  SCLL can’t operate nor succeed without volunteers like you.

 

If you are signing up to coach, the time commitment is as follows:

  • T-ball Rookies – :30 practice on Saturday, followed by an hour game
  • T-ball Veterans – :60 practice during the week + :30 practice on Saturday, followed by an hour game
  • Farm – There is one practice for an hour during either a weekday or Sunday.  Games take place on Saturday and lasts no 1 hour and 50 minutes.
  • AA – There is one 90-minute practice per week usually on Sunday or a weeknight.  There are 2 games per week, one on a weeknight and the other on Saturday.  Each game lasts 1 hour and 50 minutes.  In addition, you will also be asked to attend two player evaluations followed by a player draft.  Following the end of regular season, there will also be a playoff, exact format TBD.
  • AAA – To start, you will be asked to attend two player evaluations followed by a player draft. There is one 90-minute practice per week usually on Sunday or a weeknight.  There are 2 games per week, one on a weeknight and the other on Saturday.  Each game lasts 1 hour and 50 minutes.  In addition, you will be asked to adult rep a handful of games throughout the season in order to help ensure our youth umpire program continues to thrive.  Following the end of regular season, there will also be a playoff, exact format TBD.
  • Majors – To start, you will be asked to attend two player evaluations followed by a player draft.  There are two 90-minute practice per week.  There are 2 games per week, one on a weeknight and the other on Saturday.  Each game lasts 1 hour and 50 minutes.  In addition, you will be asked to adult rep a handful of games throughout the season in order to help ensure our youth umpire program continues to thrive.  Following the end of regular season, there will also be a playoff, exact format TBD.
  • Juniors/Seniors – Time commitment varies.

In addition to completing this registration process, you will need to complete the following:

  • Sudden cardiac arrest training and information
  • Safety meeting
  • Coaches meeting / orientation at division level
  • Positive Coaching Alliance training
  • Fingerprinting (one time only—so if you already did this for SCLL, you are set)
  • During the season, you will also be asked to support or elicit help from parents for:
    • Field prep when the visiting team
    • Game Reporting (pitchers and pitch counts, scores)
    • Gathering yearbook photos

 

Whether you have coached for ten years or never coached at all, we will have some great coaches training available for you to ensure you feel equipped for the season.
